STD Testing

In an effort to live healthy lives, people often concern themselves with maintaining proper nutrition and balanced diets. People also try to take in regular exercise that promotes health and fitness. They might also make efforts to get proper sleep and to avoid stress. There is one area of life, however, where one is not as likely to think about its effect on physical health. That area has to do with one’s personal and romantic relationships. Unfortunately, the partners that one chooses can bring along with them an added health risk if one is not paying attention. That’s why it’s important to stay as informed as one can when it comes to STDs.

It is always critical for individuals to undergo testing for sexually-transmitted diseases (STD) when sexually active, when suspicious symptoms arise, or in the event of possible contraction of an STD. There are a few ways of contracting of an STD:

  • Skin to skin contact with an infected area or a sore.
  • Engaging in oral or anal sex with an individual who has an STD.
  • Having unprotected sex with an individual who has an STD.
  • Having sex with multiple partners in the same period of time.

If you suspect that you may have contracted an STD, it is critical that you undergo testing. It is also important for sexually-active individuals to undergo testing at least once or twice a year.
